:( My dad passed away in 1988. His best friend has been my 'dad' since then. He now has rapid onset Alzheimer's. He recognizes me now but there is so much he has forgotten and he now tells stories that are complete fabrications. He looks like Charlie, sounds like Charlie, has Charlie's mannerisms but he's not Charlie. Will someone please help me deal with this drastic change to someone I love very much.

Hi Katherine
My step dad was diagnosed last year with dementia. It was much further along then we realized according to his PET scan. In the last couple weeks I have realized and am trying to cope with the fact he is no longer the man that helped raise me. And I miss him.
