I currently live with my mom and she was diagnosed with vascular dementia and Alzheimers six months ago or so. She is definitely starting to change but its hard for me to tell because I am around her all the time. She still drives, etc., and I am not sure when I will know i should take her keys away, etc.
Needing help with the beginning process of figuring out how to check for dementia. My mil just had a CT scan and is going to have an apt to check the results tomorrow. She has a lot of signs already, but more recently it's been forgetfulness more so plus incontinence (she doesn't try to go to the toilet anymore) and won't…
In the mild-moderate-severe way of describing stages of Alzheimer's, my dad has one foot in "severe". He is in MC and the care there is pretty good. But he is so sad not to be with family. My mom is living with my husband and me. We tried to care for both of them, but my dad is very independent and would not let me or my…
I was wondering about other’s thoughts/experiences with anti-depressant usage in Alzheimer’s patients. For context, my mother is late stage 5. She previously was on an antidepressant though apparently not taking it when she was still living at home. I moved her into assisted living (not memory care yet) a little over a…
Hello everyone, I’m in the process of attempting to move my dad who is in the early to mid stages of Alzheimer’s from a retirement community in Arizona to the east coast where i am. There’s no other family around and we both want to be closer to each other. This process is beyond overwhelming. I began my search a few…
My dad is scheduled in February to start Leqembi. I am having a hard time wanting to try this experimental treatment. I love my dad. I am worrying about the negative side effects. My dad is at stage 3-4 of Alzheimers. He is coherent. My mom agrees with my dad. I have already let go of my father. He isn't the father, I once…
I know the discussion title is a little unusual, but I chose to title it that way to reflect her freedom from the disease on this side of life. That's how I like to think of it anyway in order to retain some sort of sanity. My mom, diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2018, transitioned in late-August of this year. I am her only…
Hello. I am new to ALZ Connect. I am looking to connect with others who have or are experiencing what I am going through as an adult child with a parent with ALZ and another parent who is losing it as the care giver. I am hoping to connect with others who feel similar to what I feel so maybe I won't feel so alone in this…

I’m looking for feedback from caregivers in Alzconnected about my manuscript based on the years from 2017-24 when I cared for my daughter. She died from Alzheimer’s n 2024 at the age of 58. I thought members might be interested in reading about my experience managing my emotional highs and lows. All I ask is that readers…
