Doing it alone Vascular dementia

My mom has vascular dementia and like many does not think she has any memory issues . She refused to go to the doctor and lives alone in a huge house with her dogs . I have someone who comes 2x a week but is usually asked to leave early as my mother does not like company. The biggest hurdle right now is the one dog who bites people . It is nearly impossible to get a caregiver because of the dog . I know it would be better to rehome him but at what cost to my mother as he is like family. Any thoughts?

How old is the dog? .... what kind of life expectancy? If he is older I say just ride it out.

...also if the dog has insurance maybe some anxiety meds may help if you can talk to a vet? I know my moms pets mean the world to her and although hers didn't bite it was still a whole other stress and hurdle to deal with for my situation it was worth it because they brought her joy...now she just has her cat her dog passed away. The cat is much easier as I don't feel like it's Taking time away from the care that my mom requires. .. but her dog was older and has passed away the timing worked out well. It was a lot towards the end I'm not gonna lie...dealing with an elderly dog on top of everything else but it was worth it for my situation. It's a tough decision...I'm worried about my moms cat because she is younger and would be easier to rehome now instead of of later but I'm trying to not borrow trouble and its working now so if it's not broke I won't fix it.

Does the dog only bite the care takers because they are strangers? Or is the dog like this with everyone ?...you don't want a lawsuit on your hands either...I don't know if he can be put in a separate area with a gate and have a designated dog walker for the dogs care... which would be expensive I know.... but it will also be difficult to rehome a dog who bites...but not impossible. I really do feel for you it is a hard dessicion I know.
