Early morning caregiver meltdown.

Hello. First post here. I'm the sole caregiver for my DH who was diagnosed with vascular dementia about two years ago. I feel like I'm on duty from the moment he wakes up until bedtime. This morning he woke up at 4:00. I strained my shoulder recently and haven't been able to sleep well because of the pain, and having to be awake and caring for him so early didn't go so well. I'm impatient, cranky, and tired. Then I feel like crap for being short tempered. I don't see things ever improving. All our kids live out of state and we have few friends in this little town since we don't go out much. I'm just having a little pity party here and could use some encouragement. Thank you.

@CindyChris8798 welcome yo the Pity Party Line! We’re all connected and can get online any time! Know we’ve all been online a number of times, any time of day, you’ll find friends here. You are carrying a tremendous load on a bum shoulder. You’re allowed to be grumpy from time to time. The good news is your DH likely won’t remember, at least not for long.

Have you looked into available respite care options in your area?
