Meet and Greet?
I just joined this group. From what I can see nothing is happening. It looks like there's enough of us that we could have a zoom call at some point. That way we could meet, and out where in Oregon each of us are located. Share our stories, and possibly agree to meet monthly. What does everyone think?

Hi Michelle. I'm new to this group also. Looks like you didn't get any takers on your proposal to meet on Zoom. I'm in Clackamas, on a steep learning curve about dementia care. My DH has moderate (stage 5?) dementia, I care for him at home now but I'm looking into care options for the (near?) future as I am getting increasingly tired. I would love to chat sometime - any and all info about local care options, and options for financing care, would be helpful.

Me too, me too! My LO is in SW Portland, I live in BC and travel there very often bc I'm the primary caregiver. Early stage, just recently diagnosed, but would love to connect with others on local options.

Hello my mom is caring for my dad and could really use a support group (in person). She doesn't use zoom so if anyone is interested in meeting in person I would be happy to help her participate. They live in Happy Valley, near the library. My dad is stage 6 and declining rapidly. We've been told by 3 med. professionals that he needs 24/7 care. She has been his sole caregiver and is completely depleted. My sister lives in the area and I live in AZ. I had them for 10 wks here in a AL facility (that was more like a resort). They both completely thrived! We were all very sad when they adamantly wanted to return home. I do understand the familiarity and comfort of home, but he has rapidly digressed. Dementia is a beast. If you are on Instagram there are numerous pages for caregiver support, specifically for Dementia and Alzheimer's. I have found this extremely helpful, especially when they were in AZ and I was with them 40 hrs a week. Being prepared for "what's next" and having the tools to appropriately respond is helpful vs. being taken off guard. It's hard knowing this won't get better, only worse. Some days the Instagram reels affirmed that I handled a situation correct even though it was mentally and emotionally devastating. Some gave me ideas for how to respond differently next time. Just a thought for additional ways to receive encouragement and guidance. Please lmk if you'd like to meet in person so I can help my mom attend. Thanks!
