I'd like to go to Disneyland
Yes, my sister just told me she'd like to go to Disneyland - as soon as possible.
In my head I said "hahahahahahahaha, no."
Out loud, and to her, I said - "oh, I think Disneyland is still closed. They still have to figure out how to do social distancing and clean all the rides."
Who knows if that's true, what matters is that she accepted it.
Can you imagine Disneyland for someone at stage 6 Alzheimer's? And - imagine Disneyland for a caregiver of someone at stage 6. No, no, no.

Gothic, I wonder if you can find dvds of old Wonderful world of Color shows. Maybe seeing Walt on tv would make her happy-or is she too young to remember that?0

I had completely forgotten about that show, and honestly I don't actually remember anything about it - not even the theme, and I'm usually good with those. My sister is younger than me by almost three years, so if it's that dim for me, it's got to be non-existent for her.
But I really like the idea. I'm going to look around and see what I can find. Thank you very much for that, M1. It also makes me think also about Disney movies, and she probably has some of those stashed away somewhere. Those might also help.
Disneyland really is one of her favorite places and she used to go once a year with friends, so "going to Disneyland" crops up periodically. The thought of Disneyland makes her happy and I know she just wants to go back to a time when she was happy. I can't blame her.
I had such a strong reaction to it this time because one of her big bucket list items was to go to Italy. My s.o. and I managed to do that with her about a year and half ago, and while doable, it was a difficult trip. I'm glad we did it, and if I had to do it all over again, I would, but she remembers only the good parts of that trip and not the traumatic logistical parts (like I remember). So the very idea of navigating a plane or driving trip to Disneyland and then enduring the Disneyland experience (and the lines) practically gives me hives.

Guess I'm showing my age. I lived for that show on Sunday nights. If it's not a childhood memory for her, it might not work-but you never know....0

I think planning a trip is a great idea! Not going, you understand, but planning--always for the future, perhaps when they open again. If she's got a good sense of time this may not work, but my dh is planning a cruise for next April. While I question whether it will occur, I do know he gets a lot of pleasure looking forward to it.0
