Is mumbling a part of Alz? I often strain to hear or understand what my wife says. And it’s not a dental problem…her teeth are in very good shape, and they’re all her own.

Hmm, I never thought about it but my wife mubles now, early on in her cognitive impairment. I hadnot not noticed it a year ago.0

Yes. It is called aphasia and is very common.0

If by "mumble" you mean to speak in a quiet, indistinct manner, then, yes, it appears to be quite a common factor. At last, in my reading on the subject of dementia. In fact, it is one component of the changes in speech and writing that may forebode by years a formal diagnosis.
