My sister had a routine dental cleaning about a month ago and was told she wasn't doing very well keeping her teeth clean. She has early signs of periodontal disease in a couple of areas of her mouth and the hygenist recommended a periodontal cleaning.  She also recommended we add Listerine and a Waterpic to her dental routine.  The hygenist also said my sister really needs to floss better/more.

In a previous visit, the hygenist said she didn't think my sister always remembered to brush her teeth.  I kind of suspected she was right and started actively reminding my sister to brush.  After this last visit, I decided I probably need to supervise the dental routine a bit.

We ran out and bought the listerine and the Waterpic and I started watching her do most of her tooth care, providing feedback on what to do.

Today, the hygenist said she noticed a HUGE improvement, just in a month.  My sister's gums are still inflamed and some areas still bleed, but the hygenist said they're much better.  She said they would probably improve even more now that she's done a deep cleaning.

Periodontal disease doesn't go away so continued vigilance will be necessary but it was so great to hear we are making improvements!
