I don't know if this is helpful but I found our MC to be helpful about proposing solutions to lower the care level where they could. For instance:

My LO gets her washed every week at the beauty parlor on site. This was the MC manager's suggestion.

My LO likes it and it makes them feel like its a treat and it avoid moving up a care level for more showers. Instead of paying for the podiatrist which is not reimbursed my medicare, just to clip her toenails, the beautician gives her a pedicure every 2 months. If she stops cooperating we will have to rethink. The whole monthly charge and tip to the wonderful beautician is less than 1 day at the higher care level. Even if had to bring someone in to do it, it would be cheaper.

I buy our own incontinence products on Amazon for $60 or so every 2 or 3 months and don't have to pay the daily incontinence care fee.

The medication management fee is a big rip off because my LO was getting one pill once a day and it killed me to pay $25-30 a day. Now she is up to 2 pills.

Anyway, if anyone has other tips, let's share. The care levels are so costly.

Like everything , these only work for the moment. As the disease progresses they will no longer be effective. But the instant they are helping.

    Those are great suggestions.

I toured a dozen facilities ahead of placing dad. I struck those with tiered pricing off my short list. We did supply our own incontinence products, but the MCF could at a nearly identical cost. The only thing we paid extra for were haircuts and weekly take-out party when they brought in awesome food from local places for lunch-- great pizza, hoagies, Chinese food, etc.

Like HB, I looked for all inclusive pricing when I was researching ALs for my parents. Medication management was included. Recently the place changed to Tiered pricing- but my parents are considered at the lowest level, so no extra charges yet. They’ve been there 3.5 years. I have Depends shipped to Mom from Amazon. She can handle using them herself.
