Man on the Inside

This post kind of off topic. We watched a 8 episode series on Netflix last night and today with Ted Danson called “Man on the Inside” which we enjoyed. It was about a retired professor who lost his wife to Alzheimer’s and when looking for a part time job to take his mind off his loneliness, ends up taking a job with an agency investigating the theft of a necklace in a retirement/memory care home. It’s primarily a comedy but also deals with some of the difficulties associated with the disease and care. It’s mostly light and something to watch that isn’t violent. I doubt that my DH understood much of it, but my sister and I enjoyed it.
There is a trailer on YouTube.

Ted Danson has managed to get some of the best roles in television. Thanks for the tip!

I've watched 4 episodes and had a few good laughs. Ted Danson is great and it is definitely for older folks.

Some parts are a little corny, but definitely bingeable.

Yes, I agree this was a whimsical look at a very cruel disease. I thought at first that it might be upsetting. Just the opposite. Ted Danson was terrific. Corny? Maybe. I usually don't like any movies or shows that are but I'm either getting old or tired from being alone taking care of my husband 24/7. I definitely recommend this one.

Sounds good! I loved Ted Danson in The Good Place. I watched a movie about an assisted living home with my DH who has ALZ and I was worried it would upset him. To my surprise he really enjoyed it.

    Queen Bees (2021)

Cheekily described as “Mean Girls with Medic-Alert bracelets,” this gentle romantic comedy stars Ellen Burstyn as Helen, a widow who grudgingly moves temporarily into a retirement community while her home undergoes repairs. The all-star cast includes James Caan, Ann-Margaret, Christopher Lloyd, and Loretta Devine and is a joyful romp filled with cutthroat bridge tournaments, mean girls and a zest for life.

PS He also enjoyed the Grumpy Old Men movies, also with Ann Margaret!

My niece binge-watched the episodes. She found it healing and enlightened, highly recommended it to me. I'll start watching… Well, I just finished binge watching and I must say it was at once healing and cathartic. The "dramedy" did a great job of providing a dignified presentation of dementia without the usual saccharine laced proceedings. Highly recommended. Only 30 minutes each with 8 episodes, it's an easy binge. Hope they will offer a season 2 that will dive deeper into the disease to spread awareness.
