My DH 78 yrs old stage 6 some toes in 7 has been on Seraquel worked for awhile no longer. Next week will try Rexulti anyone have used that med and better results? Also very expensive.

    I don't have experience with Rexulti for Alzheimers but I have a 38 year old daughter with issues and she takes it and it has been great at controlling her delusions, hallucinations, and violent outbursts. It is very expensive. When she started the Pharmacist said it was over $1,000 a month. I don't what it is now. She is on Medicaid so they cover it for her.

    We've not used that medication. Given the price of existing generic options in the same atypical antipsychotic class of medications, it would be a last resort for me.

    We found that after a time and some progression, dad's Seroquel wasn't working as well as it had initially. His geripsych increased the number of times it was given daily- from nightly to morning and evening to 3 times a day. Had that not worked, we'd have increased the dosage given. He'd started out at 25mg, so there was plenty of room to move up.

    If increasing Seroquel wasn't enough, I'd have tried Risperdal, Zyprexa and Abilify before Rexulti.

    My DH late stage 6, early 7 and is on Seroquel and takes it three times a day. Once it didn’t seem to work as well, Divalproex was added. My DH is under Hospice care and this was their suggestion. It works pretty well.

    first used in Oct. /2023 for DW to moderate extreme anxiety. Initially, we saw some benefits but discontinued it this past December due to a bad reaction requiring a short stay in the hospital. Apparently, as time passed, and DW continued to decline, the drug’s potential risk eventually outweighed the benefits, as it was explained to me, both my DW’s her psych and hospital neurologist agreed to stop the drug. The symptoms abated, excessive disorientation, extreme rigidity and fever.
