This is a common dementia behavior. It means your LO needs supervision in the bathroom as s/he may be missing other steps— wiping well and handwashing— the are part of independent toileting. There's also a risk that your LO could be flushing things that aren't TP.

Unfortunately, when a PWD starts to have issues toileting independently, it is a step on the road to incontinence. It's best to protect mattresses with a 6-sided waterproof cover asap.
