My DH has been in a nursing facility for 3 weeks and he has broken and lost a pair of glasses. Unfortunately I didn't put his name on the second pair, so don't think there is a chance they will return. Any ideas besides putting his name on them. It is going to be an expensive if he keeps losing them.

HI, Maggie M, I underdstand your dilemma with the glasses. The first week my DH was in MC, his glasses disappeared and we never did find them. The staff searched all the recliners, his bed, and the other residents rooms but they never did turn up. He had a spare pair so I brought those. Within a week, they were gone too. Then I started buying cheap reading glasses. A couple were lost so I bought two pair at a time and keep one pair in my purse. Definately put his name on them. I tried putting his on a chain that went around his neck but he wouldn't keep it on. I hope you finad a solution.

Glasses. I had luck ordering online from Zenni. They have a range of prices and I just picked one from the cheaper side. I used his old prescription and they were fine. There are several online places you can look at.
Definitely mark his name on them, but understand that they still may disappear into the ether, or they may show up months later. Staff does their best, but if he takes them off and puts them down, another resident is likely to pick them up and move them.

I love Zenni. You can ask the nurse to collect them when he goes to bed and keep them overnight. May or may not help. It's also possible they're getting lost because he doesn't really see better with them anyway.
