New to this

My mother was diagnosed with Louie Body Dimentia 3 months ago and progressed quite quickly. She is in late stage 6. She is so weak that she is bed bound. 2 days ago she was put on hospice and we thought we only had days, but today she was having 1-3 word conversations and ate 2 corn muffins and half a sandwich. I assume these will be our ups and downs.

Welcome; so sorry you are going thru this. If your mother is in active dying stage there will be ups and downs. Several people on this forum have talked about the emotional struggle during this time. For persons with dementia , hospice doesn’t always indicate that death is soon. Glad you have hospice on board and don’t hesitate to ask them questions . Hugs to you and your family.

So sorry about your Mom. Yes there may be ups and downs. Everyone progresses differently. It’s an emotional roller coaster. It’s like the brains circuits reconnect for a bit. Hospice purses are very knowledgeable and can answer any questions. Praying for you and your Mom. 💜

I thought I was going to lose my wife two months ago and now, except for being bedridden, she's as physically healthy as she was before. Some people seem on the verge of dying just to bounce back several times before the end actually comes. Be prepared for the "bouncing ball."

You could be on the road for a long haul like we are,,simular situation MIL with late stages bed bound for over 3 years with no other health issues. Just sleeps, screams and eats every day.
