Hello, some people say when they stop eating that's when the end is near. I don't know,I believe it's up to God. My mom will be 89 this year God willing. The best part of visiting my mom today was that I saw her with my sister. And we really bonded today. It was very nice today. God bless.

    Hello,

I think each individual is different. My Dad has been sleeping through meals for months. Yes, he has lost weight, and he is weaker now, but otherwise still healthy. Some people with dementia cant make the connection between being hungry and carrying out how to get food. Some older people require less food or have a total change in their eating preferences. I don't necessarily think that it is a sign the end is near. Hang in there and enjoy as much as you can with your visits.

I appreciate the conversation. My dad has started sleeping through meals (refusing to get up when encouraged) and has been losing some weight. On the other hand, when he goes to meals, his appetite is robust. I have wondered what to think about all this.
