I came down with Covid 2 days ago. DH withVD has been ok so far. I am trying desperately to separate myself from him, asking him not to come into the bedroom to wear a mask but to no avail. I know he doesn’t understand/remember. It’s frustrating and I’m at my wits end. I want to rest, get better and not get him sick but he refuses to cooperate. I’m throwing in the towel. I don’t know what else to do to protect him.

    i’m sorry you’re sick and I know it’s hard. Try to wear a mask when he’s near you and be vigilant about hand washing for both of you. try not to have close contact. Other than that there’s not much you can do. He really doesn’t understand or remember.

    I agree with White Crane. There’s not much you can do. Maybe if you had a baby gate to keep him at the door rather than In the room…. But you can’t fix that now. It’s sadly one of the negative things about the reality of being a caregiver to a PWD. You cannot protect them 24/7 no matter how hard you try. If he gets it, he gets it…. It shouldn’t be something you blame yourself for.

    Again … words of wisdom thank you. I was totally stressing myself out over something I cannot control. Yep it is what it is 🤷🏻‍♀️

    @JC5

    I hope you feel better soon. And that your DH dodges it.

    There's hope! I had Covid last fall and DH with VD/mixed did not get it. I tried to mostly stay in another room and wear a mask when near him. Last year he did get Covid and ended up in the hospital overnight so I was happy about that. Take care!

    wear the mask (N95 only, no surgical mask works) and wash your hands before touching anything he may come in contact with. Forget asking him to wear his.
