I’m new here. My DH was diagnosed about 2 years ago with FTD and possible ALZ. We are now dealing with incontinence. I am ok with pull-ups but he has a bad habit of missing the toilet and peeing on the bathroom marble floor. I try to get him to go to the bathroom on a schedule but he just won’t cooperate. I’m not sure he can control it at this point and doesn’t make it in time. My questions are, how do I get him to pee in the toilet and not on the floor. And does anyone have a recommendation on underwear with tape closures like Diapers made for babies. They would be lots easier to remove when dealing with a BM mess. Right now I use scissors to cut them off. TIA

here’s a website that has the ones with tabs. I didn’t have to buy any as my husband went in memory care and they supplied them. High contrast toilet seat and using toilet bowl cleaner that makes the water blue helped my DH. They make pads for the floor around the toilet. https://www.northshorecare.com/incontinence-products

My DH cannot always hit the toilet also. I can be in there with him as sometimes he is totally confused on where he should urinate, and it seems to me to just be progression of the disease where he just doesn’t have the ability to do exactly what he use to. I have Lysol wipes that I use to wipe up after every use, as sometimes it’s on the back part of the toilet as well. When I deep clean (at least once to twice a week) I clean everything and then use shaving cream which gets rid of any lingering urine smell. Just is what it is, but having to clean around the toilet is better than urinating in a place other than bathroom (which has happened a couple of times).

Fortunately my husband is still continent but he was taught by his mother to sit on the toilet to urinate or defecate. Any chance you could get him to sit down? Safer for poor balance or weak legs.
