Today my DH said he had a dream last night about Montreal. He said “ don’t you remember when we were there” … it was him and his ex wife. Does it mean he’s mixing us up now?

DW remembers things that never happened, and doesn't remember things that did. Happens all the time, on everything from our 61 year history together, to existing and non-existing grandchildren.

it could be. But it could come and go. My DH thought my daughter was me. I would always introduce myself to him when I visited him in memory care. I would go in first and my daughter would go second. She would also introduce herself.

Their memory is like a jigsaw puzzle with missing pieces, with more being lost as time goes by. The newer the memory, the quicker it gets lost.

DH often asks if I remember things from his childhood. Seems like he's remembering events his mother or sister would recall. Sometimes, I don't think he thinks I'm either of them, just remembers a female was present and it must have been me. Other times, he does call me by sister's name. I won't take offense or be hurt if he uses ex wife's name one day. I know there's no rhyme or reason, it's just like wires getting crossed.
