Just a Little Advice Needed

Welcome to the forum. This sounds like a very tough situation. Who holds power of attorney for them? That is going to matter going forward. Your stepdad may be of (somewhat) sound mind, but if there is not a competent caregiver in the household, his hand may be forced. Have you consulted with a certified elder law attorney (CELA)? They could help you sort out the issues. Given that it's a blended family situation, does he have any biological children who could/should need to be involved? Can they afford assisted living or eventually memory care for your mom? A CELA can help address all of these issues.
Read about anosognosia, your mom probably has it. It's a feature of dementia in which she can't appreciate that she's impaired. Explains some of the "stubbornness."
Good luck to you, im sure others will chime in. Keep us posted.

Ralexander42466 I see you wrote this question 16 months ago, and no one has given suggestions. Iwonder what has transpired since then. This issue of the brain not connecting to give the muscles appropriate information - how do we deal with that?
