Help! In need of a break

Hi, I am a new caregiver. About 2 months in, my husband and I took over care of his mother from another state, living with us now in our home. She was so much worse than we were led to believe. She needs to be watched 24/7 and we are well aware that it will only get worse from here. We are looking for some kind of activities or programs that she can get involved in? Both to give her something to do and to give us a break. Any help is much appreciated! Feeling very overwhelmed right now and I don't even know where to start. We live in Surprise Arizona.

Hello and welcome to 'here', but sorry for the reason.

Check into adult daycare near you a day or three or even all week… you could even tell her it is a senior center.

If she is agitated, there are meds to dial that back without being zombied.

Is paperwork in order? DPOA and HIPAA accesses very important.

Contact the local senior center. They may be able to advise/refer you to agencies that can help
