Here in CA it appears MCFs are required by law to have residents' 602A doctor's report updated annually. Currently, with the addition of Depakote it would appear on paper that DH seems highly functioning and doesn't need memory care. I suppose the only ADLs he can't do is cook meals, drive, and that he requires supervision during showers to prevent him from falls. His official diagnosis is still probable LBD. Will MCF evict him?

Although he seems so "normal" now, he's had episodes of extreme violence. As much as I'd like to bring him home, I simply can't, for fear of our safety when the meds stop working without warning. Moving him to a lower level care assisted living is also not ideal if staff isn't trained to deal with dementia violence. Heavy sigh…it's one worry after another. Is there no end?!

I would talk to the director of the facility. I’m not in CA but I looked at the form and it appears that the form is used to determine what level of care the patient needs and whether that facility can provide that care. If someone has memory loss they need memory care. If his diagnosis is LBD I think he’s needs MC. So much to worry about, you sure don’t need this additional stress. Please keep us posted. Hugs. 💜
