I agree, I am not married and not going to get married. I don't want to be in the position that many others are in and feel trapped, can't get out or away from caregiving stress. At this point we have a good relationship because he is so early in the disease and adores me, we have fun and enjoy each other. We don't live together and I feel like I can remain involved and supportive, but not become responsible for him. I know from reading up on this disease and what people post, at some point things will not stay the same. At that point as hard as it is, I may have to make a hard decision. I don't feel peace at this time to walk away. Everyone's post does give me something to think about though and I appreciate feedback.

I take lots of pictures, and if I show them to DH and explain a little he often says "it rings faint bells". But it's not like having an easy banter back and forth like "remember when we camped on the beach..." So I find myself planning less because there's no one to share the memory with. Also the anger/agitation has become more pronounced this last year so I hesitate to get away from our comfort zone for any length of time. And I think that might be different if we had years of history behind us.
