Dad with dementia survives mom

Mom had a massive brain hemorrhage and as medical POA, I had the difficult decision to take her off life support after 3 days in a coma. She passed 2 days later. Funeral was on the 19th. Now I'm focusing on taking care of Dad as he has late stage vascular dementia. We were supposed to plan for Dad to pass first but then Mom died and things just got backwards. My sister created lots of havoc thinking about guardianship for dad to protect his assets. But little did she know, that dad had a will and everything will be taken care of. When we went to her lawyer and presented the will, the lawyer told her that guardianship is not necessary. My sister went back home and life goes on but everything is changed. Taking care of task at hand, I have to focus on the things I need to address and although I'm grieving my Mom, my mind is preoccupied with everything that needs to be done. I now know the reality that yes, sometimes the caregiver dies before the pwd although my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, but it was actually a brain mass that mimicked dementia. My sister told my dad about mom passing and surprisingly, he took it well. He accepted the news but shows no emotions and can't verbally express himself. He even told us to take down Mom's pictures. These are challenging times and hope our families will deal with their grief in all their different ways. Thank you all for the support you've given me over 3 years. Life goes on…
