Rexulti and increased confusion and restlessness?

DH has been taking Rexulti for 2 weeks now and he seems to be more confused, wanting to go see his parents, wanting to go skiing, more restless. I don’t know if it’s coincidence or is this a result of the medication. I don’t think it’s had any effect on the agitation so I’m inclined to stop it. His doctor said to go to the lower dose for a week and see, but I don’t know if I can take it much longer. He just seems a lot worse mentally. Has anyone else experienced this with Rexulti or other similar drugs?

Hi Annie. My husband has been on .5 mg Rexulti for a few months and is doing well with it. When we tried to increase him to 1 mg he went absolutely bonkers and was worse than ever. I don't know what your husband's dosage is, but if possible, going down may help. Of course not everyone can tolerate all drugs so it may not be right for him. Hope this helps. First time on here, just registered.1

Thanks for your response. The dose was .5 mg for 7 days, then increased to 1 mg. He was on 1 mg for a week, then I went back down to .5 today. Maybe I can try another week of .5.
May I ask why your husband is on it?

My daughter takes Rexulti, not for dementia but for Bipolar. It was the third medication she tried. the first two made it hard for her to sit still. I know dementia is different but if it doesn't work don't give up, a different medication for the same thing can have very different results.
