Ugh! DH mostly made it to the toilet but there is a lot of BM in his underwear, I rinsed that out in the toilet later. So I'm wondering ….do you wash the underwear in the washer by itself maybe with rags or something, or with other regular laundry?

Way back in the dark ages when my babies were in diapers…before disposables were invented…we had a diaper pail,( for all the rinsed diapers ). They were washed separately. Definately. There is too much risk of fecal contamination.

after rinsing I wash them along with old towels to even out the machine. I usually wash twice in cold water and then again in hot water . ( I wear a face mask with a tiny dab of Vicks on the inside as I am rinsing)

Try substituting male depends for his underwear. They come in grey and he may not notice. I doubt that dealing with BM in clothing is sustainable given all of the other things you are having to do.

Helpful answers all. I will buy a diaper pail since I disposed of ours about 50 years ago! The step-by-step info on cloth diapers was informative too. Thanks to all.
