Memory Care Facility for Mom

Thank to all who replied to my first post. Great ideas and insights. I do have another question as my family navigates through this . When and if my dad decides mom needs to be moved to a memory care facility , does anyone know if Medicare will cover any of this expenses of this?
I am assuming not, but am just trying to get direction on how to 1) find a place and 2) how to pay for it . This is not something I'd ever imagined dealing with and it is just heartbreaking.
Thank you for any assistance .

Sadly, Medicare covers almost nothing associated with Alzheimer's, only medications. Memory care is private pay, long-term care insurance in the uncommon event that someone has it, or Medicaid.
As far as finding a place, I recommend visiting several, at least 6 if you're in a big enough area.

What Medicaid will cover depends on the state. If you think she will run out of money, you might want to see a lawyer about how it all works in your state and if there is anything you need to do to make sure you are not breaking their rules (no gifting is a big one). Sometimes it is beneficial to do a prepaid funeral. In my state Medicaid waiver will only cover a portion of al with family paying the remainder. In some facilities they will accept Medicaid as full payment if the resident has private paid for 2 years. The requirements to qualify for Medicaid also very by state. To make it even more complicated each state is different . I have added a link for Medicaid information by state. Good luck.

Prompted by the great advice on this site, I have done the recommed things. I'm in Ohio and Medicaid will cover MC but you have to find a facility that can/will accept it. The 2 year private pay seems to be common. I contacted Care Patrol and another service that will assist with identifying MC's, but honestly, they recommended places that didn't accept Medicaid after Pvt Pay even though that was within my criteria, and I felt like I was dealing with used car salesmen. I ended up selecting on my own. We see the nurse today for the eval. This facility is nearby, Faith based, and a home for life. The organization has been in the community for 50 years, so, I am comfortable with them. I pray that all goes well today. This is agonizing. You have come to the right place.
