Of all the two clear sentences my DW could get out clean. Yesterday she said, "I can't talk. It makes me want to walk into the road in front of cars." Damn. What a gut punch.

CindyBum, that’s heartbreaking. Sometimes when my husband sits and stares into space I wonder if he has thoughts and what they are.

How very sad for both of you. This has to be one of the cruelest diseases to suffer for both the patient and the loved ones doing the caregiving. Losing oneself and having moments in which you know it, must be horrifying.

Gut punch and I’m there too. We sit and have an early morning cuppa watch the sun come up on the front verandah used to be wonderful but now it’s total silence no words can come, no discussion no exchange of ideas no anything. I fear I can’t do this every day so much sadness creeps in. I want the end of a jetty!

I’ve had to call 988 twice in the first 2 months after diagnosis. She’s much better now after attending the H.A.B.I.T. program at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville.

The loss of conversation is so hard. But then to have such a thought and be able to clearly state it? Brutal.

So sorry to hear this CindyBum. I know exactly how shocking this is to us caregivers. My DW still talks quite a bit but unfortunately it’s not to me. She blabs in total word salads that make no sense only to her delusional friends while folding the same clothes all day. The other day she started crying and blurted out that she hates that she can’t figure out her words and doesn’t want to go on like this. I ask her if she is ready to go to heaven and she says no but she just hates where she is now. I guess all I can do is be there for her.

So sorry for your heartbreak. It’s not enough that we endure the daily issues but then to have a gut punch like that it’s just awful. Sending hugs!

I like your DW. Sounds like she’s got some moxie left. This may sound crazy but I’d love to hear my DW utter those words cleanly.

Cindy - So sorry for the gut punch and also just want to give a hug. I wonder how many of our LOs wish they too could clearly voice their frustrations just once. My DW often tells me dying is hard and all I can do is agree and and give her a hug. Alzheimer's sucks!

They could put her picture next to the word "moxie" in the dictionary. ;-)
