Mom has Covid

A few days ago, Mom had a headache all day. That was all that was going on. But by the following morning, she was nauseated and throwing up and had a slight fever of 100.1 and was also having high blood pressure, well pretty high for her and also coughing a lot. So we made a doctors appointment and got her tested yesterday for Covid and flu. She tested positive for Covid, and what we can’t figure out is that my husband and I both tested negative for Covid. I work outside the home and he does not. I didn’t have any symptoms at all so if I brought it in, I certainly didn’t realize it. Anyway, she has had caregivers because of a recent fall at the end of July so we spread the word to make sure all of them knew and to go get tested as well. Her primary daytime caregiver tested negative and I haven’t heard about the rest.
All of that was just kind of to lead up to the next part honestly. Her doctor prescribed her paxlovid and apparently there is a version of that people with renal issues which she does have. It was out of stock last night, but it’s available today. But the pharmacist had a real problem with the fact that my mom is also on amiodarone for her a-fib. She said there is a direct issue with amiodarone and taking paxlovid. So between the pharmacist and the doctor going back-and-forth, it was finally determined that she should only start taking that if she gets worse. So we are just monitoring her and treating her symptoms with prescription cough medicine, a steroid, and Tylenol. She’s kind of been up and down today on how she feels, and I guess my thing I’m doing here is asking has anyone else had a parent get Covid with heart issues and what was done about it? Also, trying to kind of measure what getting Covid might do to her cognitive decline. Everything I’ve read online is that it definitely can kind of push them to further decline faster. I don’t think there’s going to be any ONE answer, so that’s not what I’m looking for. Just experience with this kind of issue. Thoughts?

I am currently monitoring my DM for Covid. My household has been sick. Two of the three of us tested positive. Hubby tested negative.
However, prior to knowing test status, adult child was over by grandma for about an hour on Friday. Now I am freaking out.
My mom also has Afib, not on Amiodorone. Best wishes are being sent your way for your dear mama.🙏🏽

I hope both of you and your families are better soon! It is true that COVID can accelerate cognitive decline - it did for my mom when she got it - BUT my sense is that it’s not permanent. That was one of the few times she declined and got better in a few days.
I don’t know about the medication and a-fib. Hopefully someone will jump in and share.
