I lost a favorite neighbor this week. She was caring for a husband with Parkinson's but was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer three months ago. He is now in a nursing home with hospice, and her funeral was yesterday.

We may intend to care for our LOs to the end, but God may have other plans. It is important to have a plan for that possibility.

I can attest to that. I had planned on caring for my husband as long as I was able but in late 2023 I was diagnosed with rare aggressive breast cancer. I had no choice but to place him in memory care so I could get treatment. I was advised by my daughter-in-law, who is a nurse, to have a Plan B and also advised by this forum to have a Plan B but I was either in denial or kept thinking I had plenty of time. Don't wait.

@Carl46 I am sorry for the loss of a good neighbor. I'm sure you'll miss her.

Your story illustrates the need for a robust Plan B.
