Loved one is pretending

Hello! Just frustrated today. I have caught my Mother-in-law pretending to shower a couple of times now! She turns on the water so I hear it running; she comes out with her "dirty" towels and throws them in the laundry, but when I check the towels are not or barely wet. Maybe she is doing a sponge bath but I doubt it.

How can she not remember if or what she ate, the day it is, etc. but be cunning enough to fabricate to such a degree?

Yesterday after one of my moms favorite staff at the memory care reminded her to always use her walker, he later told me he found it IN THE GARBAGE CAN!

It never ceases to amaze is right. No surprise at all. My mom will do anything to avoid a shower. Bathing and incontinence (along with wandering) are the big reasons she’s in MC.

she may not remember how to shower. There are many steps to taking a shower. In the book “The 36 Hour Day” it explains why they don’t want to shower. She now may need assistance showering. Hoes she have a shower seat and hand held shower wand? That helped my husband.

No, but I think we need to add these to see if that helps!
