Friend wants to learn about ALZ

We have a friend who we haven’t seen in years who reconnected with us a few months back. He is flying up for 4 days to help with DH (in early stage 5) during our move to a new house. I am so grateful by his generosity. He stated that he knows very little about ALZ and wants to read up about it.
What websites, etc, would you recommend to someone just needing beginner info?
I’m thinking of recommending DBAT. Would referring him to this page be too much?
Thank you.

Understanding the Dementia Experience might be a good option for understanding how dementia is impacting their friend and how best to interact with him.

I second the recommendation by harshedbuzz. This informational document, only about 27 pages long and an easy read is a gold mine. My DH is gone more than two years now, but I still have a tattered copy on hand. I shared copies with friends and family early on, because it is so concise, written in layman’s terms, and addresses everything one needs to know initially to help Alzheimer’s patients. In the past, it was easily downloaded for printing. I hope you can procure this document and share it with your very generous friend. 💕Best of luck in your caregiving.

Thank you! I just listened to her 1st hour session and it is excellent! I recommend this to all, including caregivers, and also to my adult children. I wasn’t able to get her 2nd session to work but will keep trying. I’ll also check into ordering her book.
Thank you again for this recommendation!0 -

the book “The 36 Hour Day” is a great place to start. Search online for dementia caregiving videos by Tam Cummings and Teepa Snow. Show him the chart for the 7 stages of dementia that includes behaviors. Glad you have help coming.
