Memory Care Day 1
Today I took my DH to MC. Such a hard decision to make and a hard, hard thing to actually do. The staff was wonderfully welcoming, giving him big hugs, making him feel valued. I got an update this afternoon that he was doing well, had a good lunch, checked out every inch of the place, walked the path outside, enjoyed listening to some piano music. The monthly family night is happening now with an Oktoberfest party (I chose to stay away for a couple of days). I hope he’ll have a good night. 🤞
As for me, tears of course for the first few hours, felt very strange being in an empty house. Then I visited a friend and sat in a lounge chair and had a REAL conversation without interruption. I called my sister and had a nice long talk. I’m feeling a little bit at peace right now. That will probably only last until I go to bed alone. 😞

The report is encouraging. I'm just a little a month into placing DH. I cried for weeks leading up to it. I took a vacation this week and we are both adjusting.

Hi, Annie!
So glad day #1 went well. Just like you did on this first day, keep yourself busy the next couple of days. DH has caring and knowledgeable staff making sure he has structure to his days, you should do the same. You are strong! Take care that you stay strong.
Hugs and prayers to you.

I am glad it went well thus far. It was the hardest thing I have ever done but it was best for both of us.
