We had the same kind of visit. was apprehensive at the thought of it, but he nurse looked at information, did a few assessments of her own, and ended up staying close to an hour with low key questions and answers. She was lovely. Thorough but not intrusive and very aware of not embarrassing my DH in any way. She said she would send a report to the coordinator, who would pass it on to Long Term Care. I think he just thought she came to visit. Our nurse was not associated with the Long Term Care insurance but was an independent nurse working for a coordinating party. Within two weeks, we were approved for full time care. Well, that is me already but we now have a caregiver two to three afternoons a week. I was happy with the whole process.

yes the nurse is actually not from the insurance. When we spoke on phone for appointment she was very friendly. Two weeks was quick. Hope I have the same experience.

I second what Mulfja said—our visit was low key and unobstrusive.  Our visit was last year (my husband is in mc now). I believe I did tell my husband that our long term care program (for both of us) was making a routine check up visit, which he did not question.  We sat around the dining room table and it was very informal. After some casual conversation the nurse began by asking me questions about our background before she turned to my husband.  She asked him such questions as what would he do if the house caught fire and gave him one of the brief standard cognitive tests. In our case the documentation you have gathered I had already provided electronically to LTC as well as contact information for his pcp, neurologist, etc. so the nurse did not need to go over any of that at our visit. Like mulfta I was happy with the process.
