I understand.
I once worked in a LTCF. It's a lot harder caring for someone I care about and being on duty every day. And there was the support provided by working as a team member with other medical professionals. I didn't have to make all the decisions myself, often I only had to implement prescribed procedures.
Through this group I've been learning how to detach myself from the disease, but not the person. And how important it is to take care of myself, as well as my LO. Also, how not to argue or overreact. It has made caregiving a little easier, one day at a time.

welcome. Is there any way you can get respite help to get away a few hours? Many people can’t do full time caregiving without help. It affects you both mentally and physically. You do need to recharge. We know what you’re going through.

There is a world of difference between forty hours a week with coworkers to chat with and 24/7 with no adult company. Days off and nights with no responsibility make a huge difference. I'm going to say 4 years of (paid? unpaid?) responsibility for your daughter-in-law's family is enough and they should implement their Plan B.
