Correlation- Active Dreams w Movement and Dementia?

Hi,

Has anyone else seen info that if you have dreams where you're usually fighting something off and you move/thrash, especially kicking or running motion, that it's an almost slam-dunk predictor of degenerative brain diseases? I saw a couple studies that got quoted in many news items.

Yes, I have read those studies. My dad used to have those types of dreams. He died though, so I dk if he would have been diagnosed with Alz or dementia.

My mom never had those types of dreams, yet she is my pwd.😭

They asked my mom about this when they were trying to diagnose the type of dementia. She doesn’t do this, but they said it was a sign of Lewy body dementia. A simple search for Lewy body dementia should give you some quick answers. I would bring it to the doctors attention.

I've seen such articles. This is a consider the source situation.

When something is published in a prestige refereed journal press releases are sent out generally by the organization where the study was done. The press releases trigger articles which may or may not be written by a writer who understands statistics or the limitations of the study. Headlines can be all over the place as well. I find it interesting when "something big" breaks to compare what turns up in DH's science journals, MIT Tech Review, the NYT, the morning shows and internet click bait. Typically, it's reporting on one study being rehashed rather than "a couple" released in the same year.
