My DH is into the mid stage of Alz I believe. Diagnosed over a year ago. He's still able to care for himself, but speaking and following instructions etc. Are definate difficult. Along with other things he gets confused on he is not able to write very well any more. Always asking me how to spell words.

He has been on FB for many years and still enjoys scrolling and seeing what others have posted. I am noticing that his comments on posts are getting worse. Spelling and grammar errors or posting something and then sharing it a few times because he didn't see it originally post (it was posted, he was just confused).

Just curious what your thoughts are on this. Shall I just keep ignoring his mistakes until he gets to the point where he forgets how to even sign in?

It's definitely not something I want to try and point out to him. That never goes well with someone with Alz.

I’d be more concerned with him making mistakes with financial apps. banking, credit cards, etc. I think I’d delete them if they’re on his phone. If he enjoys FB, so be it. This awful disease takes so much/everything from our LO’s, let them enjoy what they can if it’s not hurting anybody or them. My DH eventually lost interest in his phone and I ended up giving it to our granddaughter.

Sort of a sideways workaround, maybe you can find some more TV things to interest him? Not the same, but maybe a substitute activity…….. If you look at YouTubeTV, there are a zillion things to see, quick videos of "funniest things", recipes, how to fix cars, gardening, etc. You could set up a playlist of sorts. Another option is to consider Zinnia, an app for dementia patients that has many subjects, but shown at a slightly slower pace and tone. There is a free trial for the app. Another thing that has helped with DH is to watch history shows, many of them are focused on one main character or subject so it is easier to follow, as opposed to the crazy TV shows that have so many plot lines. This is not what you were asking, but maybe there is some useful information overall.

Thank you. This are some great ideas that I will look into. For now I'm letting his posts go. No real harm or safety concerns so I'll just keep an eye on it.

Appreciate you talking the time to respond.

    Have a wonderful day.

Thankyou. Yup, financial side of things are being covered so I'm not concerned there will be issues there.

I agree that there are no safety issues with his posts so will just be keeping an eye on them and leave him alone to enjoy for a long as he can.

Take good care. Appreciate you taking the time to comment.
