Door Locks
Any recommendations for door locks to prevent loved one from wandering outside?

I used something very simple, but it was effective. An old fashion sliding bolt but mounted well up the door where I could reach it but well above eye level. Rick

I’ve had good luck with a child door handle lock. It spins around and my DH does not have the dexterity to open it. I got a four pack for about $9. Although he’s in a wheelchair, I needed to as he could get out if the door were open.

Something up high that doe not use a key is the best…..even a hook and eye will work

As recommended, try to put it up higher and out of site. Ideally match the color of the door/frame.

I would also recommend a gps tracker. Project Lifesaver offers gps tracker watches through local police or sheriff departments. They register your love one in a central data base with a photo and information about him or her. They can track them anywhere in the U. S. The watch is permanently attached and water proof.

we have these on all the doors that lead outside, hook and eye latches on any inside doors that needed securing.

I installed these on all inward-opening doors and they worked very well. DH didn't see them (they were up high) and couldn't have figured them out. I also put double-lock doors on our french doors (keyed on both sides) so he couldn't open them to go outside. Also used indoor cameras to track his movements, and a sturdy child-gate on the stairs.
The locks are good security for me, too, now that he is gone.
