I couldn’t decide where to post this: here or on the front porch(where I’ve never posted).
I know not very many people visit here- but it’s a place to get my thoughts out.

As you know, my spouse and I lost our son( April 2023). Then I lost my step-dad Feb. 2024. He wasn’t a nice person, but I had known him for 59 years. I lost mom, the PWD, Nov 29, 2024. I was notified on Nov 18 2025 that my sister had passed away. She was 64 and lived several states away in Louisiana. We made an immediate trip there from Illinois to handle things. It falls to me to handle everything as our other sibling lives even further away than me in California. Neither of my sisters helped me with my parents the last five years of there lives. They called them once a year.

My sister hadn’t worked for several years, drawing disability, due to extreme back issues along with anxiety and depression. I’m obviously sad she’s gone, I’m angry that the authorities down there did no research to find us. They must never even have looked at her phone or Facebook page. Her apartment manager found us two weeks after her death. I’m resentful that I now have to handle my fourth estate in less than three years. No will either.

Oh QBC! That sure is a whole lot. And the delay? Sad, frustrating, angering… trying to find the words. I am so sorry. I mainly wanted to bear witness to this journey you're on, yet again. Accompanying you in spirit. 💜

QBC - I am so sorry. Like JeriLynn said, you've been through so much in the last few years. I totally understand the anger and resentment - I'd feel the same way.

Oh QBC, that is so much to go through in the past few years. I agree that the authorities should have tried harder to find her next-of-kin, but she may not have left any clues, either. I am sorry for your loss.

I spoke to the sheriff’s office investigator this week after she returned from vacation. The explanation she gave is that they are not allowed to look at phones without a search warrant. Which they didn’t ask for because they decided she died from natural causes. They saw medical paperwork in plain sight and called her doctor/ insurance to get an emergency contact. Those numbers were out of date.

Everyone who lives alone should post appropriate numbers on their refrigerator.

Oh my…if it’s not one thing, it’s another. I’m so sorry for your losses and even more sorry that it’s compounded into you alone having to deal with all of this. This is way too much for one person and you have every right to feel the way you do. Sending strength and good thoughts your way!
