UTI

DH had a low grade fever this morn, 99.7, gave aspirin, agitated more than norm. I used the home UTI test strip and showed positive for UTI. We went to ER with urine sample in hand. ER said couldn't use the sample, no problem, cause DH soon needed to relieve himself again. ER tested fresh sample and said negative for UTI. They also tested sugar level and said was good. We are back home, temp is fine and he has calmed back to his normal self. I'm guessing the home test strips are not accurate? Will just monitor and see how this unfolds. New day, new roller coaster. Oh, Happy Thanksgiving to all!

My experience with the home test strips is that they frequently show a false positive. I only used them twice and then just did not use any more. Rick

Thanks for the replies. Tested again with at home strip again this morn, and negative as well, plus temp has remained good.

Thanks for all this knowledge on UTI test strips. My DH gets UTI's frequently with no symptoms so I bought home test strips with the sterile container for collection. All of this information is helpful for me - I have not tested with them yet.

lenbury, so sorry to hear about your wife. The blood pressure goes up when you have an infection (i.e. UTI). I check my DH blood pressure each day and that's an indication to test him.

We check blood pressure daily, as well. Thanks for this additional info.
