It's a winter wonderland here this.morning. Not snowing.now but everything is white. This wasn't supposed to happen until afternoon. I was up at 12:30 letting the GPs out and in and it was just windy. Not sure how far east this narrow band extended. Glad I don't need to get out.
Stormy went out on the porch but began to slip wen he started down the steps so I stopped.him. Don't want a.broken bone. Neither of them is very sure footed Iike they used to be. They loved snow and.used to run and play in it when they were younger.
Did you all see the news.story about the raccoon who broke into a liquor store, got drunk and passed out in the bathroom?
0 -
Lorita - I did see that story!! I love the photo of the raccoon passed out on the floor. 😄
Iris - I love Diana Ross and Michael Jackson. I would have loved to have seen him in concert. I've often thought that there are two albums that everyone has - Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd and Thriller by Michael Jackson.
I'm doing a quick drive-by here before I go off to the gym. My s.o. has a 7am phone meeting (he's on the call right now), so I decided that since I'm vaguely awake, I'll go to the gym and get that done.
But first - the weather!
Yay! A week from Saturday we have the chance at an overcast sky instead of rain! It just made me laugh so I had to post.

Good morning.
Ron, it's nice that you're getting faster attention in Missouri.
Lorita, you be careful too on the icy ground!

morning…all quiet here
Put together my new CD player and speakers. Now I want to sort out maybe 150 CDs so that I can play what I want when I want…lol
0 -
Seems IIkr wr.have to.put everything together anymore. A while back I ordered a pair of lamps.and they.had to be completely assembled. I returned them. They weren't tall.Enough either.
Did you all get snow Judith, Carl and Ron?
0 -
No snow here. It's 35 degrees, cold for this time of year, and partly cloudy, but no sign of precipitation. It's actually kind of a pretty day. The full moon will rise at 4:30 so it will be pretty when the sun sets, unless the clouds block it.
One of my brothers bought an exercise machine, and they sent him a box of parts, lots of little springs and bolts. I don't think he ever did get it assembled.
0 -
Put together = connect speakers to each other and then to the cd player…piece of cake
0 -
I think I took a nap, woke up.and the snow is 98% gone! Cloudy here so probably won't get to see the moon.
Good for you, Judith. Music tonight!

Reminds me of the saying - some assembly required!!!
We had a wonderful time at our Christmas party yesterday. Great food, snacks, dessert, games and activities for everyone. We saw so many people we've not seen for awhile, that was great. I kept hearing "boy DH is social, he's all over the place." And they were right, he had a blast. They even had a baby grand piano and she played so beautifully. It was an afternoon of smiles for sure.
It feels like winter out, burr. Grey sky and damp with it 40. Frankly it feels much cooler than that. DH said we probably need a fire tonight.
Let's be careful out there. People are in a rush and it seems like they'd just as soon run you over as not. Be safe everyone.

We did see Santa at our party!!!

good evening

Mint, looks like you have snow in your future. He very careful. Guess I will say good night

Eaglemom, it looks like the party wore Santa out! It's nice that everyone had a good tuphill
.
I just came back from driving 29 miles to a dinner seminar on investing in gold and silver. Driving up was horrible. Rush hour traffic starts at 3pm. Fortunately, there was no rain. I saw the large beautiful full moon in the late afternoon but by nightfall there were too many clouds. Going up the traffic was so heavy that I drove only 10-15 mph for quite some time. Returning home was a bit better, although there was an area of road diet dropping from six lanes down to ONE lane, my speed was 5 mph. The funny thing is that I used to commute in that sort of traffic every day when I was working, although I do believe the traffic congestion has gotten much WORSE since then. I am so very THANKFUL that I don't have a daily commute any more!

Good morning.
It's dark and cold here today. I'm up early to do some laundry. Today was meant to be my at-home day, but DS wants me to go to the doctor with him. I guess he thinks it's "his turn". He's developed a rash on his arms— red, raised, itchy and warm to the tough. He's pretty miserable. This is a recurrence of a rash we thought was related to a new sunscreen a few years back, but circumstances are completely different. There have been no known changes to soaps or laundry detergents.
Judith— perhaps the disconnect between artistic talent and financial sense is at the root of the starving artist trope.Iris— I'm sorry to hear of the sleep apnea. Mom has both central and obstructive, so she uses a machine at night. You may find treatment improves your sleep and how you feel during the day. I feel like traffic is worse here as well. The "evening rush" starts around 2:30 when the high schools dismiss and those busses and cars hit the roads. It lasts until about 6:30 during the week. I live north of mom on the main state road between our towns; fortunately, I have something of a reverse commute although there are times when getting home takes upwards of 40 minutes rather than 18. Back when I worked, I always seemed to have an hour drive. The worst commute took me through 9 of Philadelphia's 10 worst intersections for accidents.
Lorita— Carl is correct. Gen is a shortened version of generation. Relative to vehicles it refers to a model years between major redesigns. Car-people tend to talk about cars using the term.
Mint— Mom has that kind of scoliosis. Hers became fairly significant after an injury with compression fractures. It's added to her fall risk as it impacts her center of gravity. And it makes sewing/hemming for her a challenge.
G.G.— Tony Bennett is easy to appreciate. I enjoyed some of the things he's done with Lady Gaga. One of my niece's friend's dads makes a good living doing Tony Bennett tribute shows. He, too, have a great voice.
That weather forecast is a whole lot of bad knee and bad hair days for someone like me. I'd hide under the covers.
Ron— So you likely heard "Old Elvis" back in the day? Wow! I'm glad the VA seems on top of your care.
Eaglemom— The party sounds lovely. I loved the picture.

The pulmo follow up brought some clarity to the situation. He listened and reviewed her X-rays and seems focused on the cardiac piece. He didn't come out and say it, but I'm pretty sure he thinks the breathing issues are related to worsening CHF and/or pulmonary hypotension. She'd been scheduled to see her cardiologist the end of January, but I was able to reschedule for next week so we'll have more information ahead of her follow up X-rays and pulmo check in 6 weeks. Alas this means driving her to the city because of the limitations of her POC and I would rather take the train.
I'm hoping to get her sorted out and stable by the time I get my knee replaced. I've ringed off the month of February but I fear I may need to reschedule.I met my niece for haircuts and happy hour last night. She's been super busy of late with work and her dad and various siblings. Her dad is just a ghastly human
I hope all have a calm day.

BEAUTIFUL DAY HERE.
0 -
Morning, pretty foggy earlier but better now. Still cloudy and cold. Still laying on the bed watching tv. Saw the girls running so guess they are feeding. I don't much like where they feed because the girls have to run from the other pastures but it is drier up there. I guess when you do things one way and it works well you can't. be satisfied if someone else does it differently.
I need to take a pkg. to the mailbox before the mail carrier runs but just can't get going. May just lay here all day but do need to call direct to get something fixed on the tv in the LR.
Iris, the traffic seems worse around here, too, at least on the highway. I used to go to town and meet half a dozen cars, now it's a dozen. I could not deal with heavy traffic. I see it in Tulsa and it's awful. It adds a lot of time to their day. I dealt with that when I was working but it was the distance, not the traffic, so my workday was ten hours instead of eight. Better go to the mailbox.

Beautiful day?..Not here - It's cloudy with some wind and as cold as kraut. Went to the mailbox and the main road looks awful. Did see a neighbor on the road pulling into their driveway. They finally picked up my trash.but left a couple of.broken down boxes right by the barrel. Now I have three more to add to those.

I can agree with you now, Judith. The sun came out about 30 minute ago so it is a pretty.day but still cold.

So i guess we all have zones of comfort. My zone would be 35-80 degrees.

Good evening

I got up around 7 am but I'm just now getting to this message board. Where does the time fly? I made a couple of phone calls, listened to a few Bible study radio shows, fed my cats and ate breakfast and lunch. What was I doing in between those times, I don't know.
HB, can you get your mom to elevate her legs in the late afternoon or early evening? That might help her CHF. Are you in a lot of pain with your knees?
The sun is going down now. I still have 1/2 my large sandwich from the seminar last night. I'd never seen such a huge sandwich.

I think it may still.be cloudy but want to see if I.can see the full moon.
Iris, they were talking on the.news about something that happened two years ago and to me it seems like it was a couple of months ago. Our.mothers told us that the older we get the faster time goes. I haven't accomplished much either except feed the kids.
Mint, are you okay today?
Judith, I IIke.temps in the sixties and seventies.but would get tired.of it if it was.that temp all the time. I like the seasons.
Good. Night

Had a strange phone message today. The caller identified herself as an auto repair shop, said parts for my Nissan Maxima had been ordered, would be installed when received, and the car would then go to the paint shop. I own a Maxima but it isn't in their shop and never has been. I suspect this is a phishing attempt, hoping I will call back to tell them they have the wrong number so they can run some type of con on me.
Your talk about Tony Bennett reminds me of a line in "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice" in which two couples were on a vacation trip. They had tickets to see Tony Bennett but three of them were anxious to consummate their wife-swapping pact, so one man said "Okay, we'll have an orgy, THEN we'll go see Tony Bennett." Funny movie, fairly risque' for 1969 or thereabouts.

Judith - At first I was like, 'What??? Assemble a CD player??" But then I read on, attaching the speakers is a much more reasonable thing to assemble. 😄
My perfect comfort zone? It's probably 70-90 degrees. I can tolerate weather in the 50s, but when it dips below that, I'm an unhappy camper. For better or worse I guess internally I'll always be a southern California girl.
Lorita - Snow that is 98% gone is the best kind.
eaglemom - I'm glad you guys had a great time at your Christmas party!
Iris - A road diet? I had to look that up, I'd never heard that term before. I've always heard lane reduction. I like road diet better. I'll add though - I don't like road congestion. I'm fine to drive in it, but I really don't like it.
HB - I hope your son's rash calms down. It sounds pretty awful. Could it be a food allergy?
Our weather forecast has changed - now, a week from Saturday where we might get overcast instead of rain? It's now been upgraded to rain. Yay. 😄 But at least we're not in the 30s!!! Today was rain and 50s - I'll take it.
Ron - Your photo is very pretty. What is the greenish/yellow light on the ground kind of by the house?
Carl - It sounds like a phishing call to me. I bet you that sometime in the past there was some kind of data breach involving information about your car, and that was how they know you have one.
I never saw that movie (but I've heard of it) - an orgy and then Tony Bennett, two things that I don't put together. Was Tony Bennett cool in the 1960s?
As for life in the PNW - we got our Christmas tree today. It's set up and we'll decorate it tomorrow when we have some light. I'm looking forward to that.

Thanks for the pretty pictures ,Ron. I forgot to look when I let Stormy.out.
Good for you, Carl, for not responding to the call. So many.scams going around.makes you leery of answering the phone. I don't unless I recognize the number. I think I will go look at the moon. It's supposed to be very foggy here tomorrow until Almost noon, then a cold front with strong wind in the evening. Doesn't sound like a good weekend. See you all tomorrow. Sleep tight!
0 -
Ron, is that photo over your son's house?
Lorita, I could be happy with 70 degrees year-round, because I don't like cold and I don't like heat. Here in SoCal most trees don't turn color, but the other day I saw a maple tree with red and yellow leaves and half of them had fallen onto the ground. It brought me back to my childhood in NY, walking to school and swishing my shoes through the fallen leaves.
Carl, good for you in not taking the bait!
GG, road diet may be an LA term, because it's used all the time here. The problem here is that there are just too many cars on the road. Add the many trucks and getting around becomes an ordeal.
I just rested today, I didn't go out, I didn't even look at the full moon. Good night now.
Iris

Good morning!
GG, the greenesh/yellow, if it’s what I’m thinking your looking at is the grass and a reflection for the moon or a spot from the camera flash.
Iris, the first building is the milk house and the one in back of it is the barn.
Had another bad night and finally got up at 3:30 this morning.
