Sticker for vehicle…

I saw this and realized it would help if you have a passenger in your car who has dementia. If there is an accident, this would be important. Also put something in your car or phone in case of emergency so they could contact a secondary caregiver. Anyone have their loved one wear a medical alert bracelet? I’m not sure my DH would have worn one.

    Thank you for sharing, great idea.

    My husband does wear a medic alert type “dog tag” on a chain that the VA ordered for him. It has my contact info as well as ALZ and diabetic. A secondary contact would be a good idea.

    Thank you! Will definitely check into the sticker. My DH just got a medical dog tag. He will be starting leqembi in a couple of weeks. Some side effects mimic a stroke so he needs the tag to alert medical personnel.

    I thought this would be a tough sell but he picked out what he wanted and has been wearing it whether he leaves the house or not.

    Here is another thing to consider. In our community the Sheriff's office has a system that allows me to submit a form to put with our address that tells first responders that my wife has Alzheimer/Dementia. They do this in case I need assistance, call 911 and they respond trying to get information from my wife. Even worse, if they need to transport me, it tells them they cannot leave my wife alone and there are other family members to notify.

    If my DW saw that on the car she would freak out. She refuses to admit she has dementia.

    My wife also reacted the same way if anything was displayed or posted that even suggested anyone was ill in our home. I had emergency numbers posted and laying around which she quickly retrieved and hid. The initial home care company wanted items posted or taped to the refrigerator which she removed. Their record book was supposed to be available easily should a state inspector come by which I had to hide. It was tricky for a long time and then it was not.

    check to see if your state has the Yellow Dot program. There's a sticker you place on the rear windows of your car alerting first responders that there is information in the glove box.     I got a seatbelt cover similar to this one. It has all her medical info and is easy enough to take off if somebody else is sitting in her seat.
