My DH is at peace. I held his hand as he took his last breaths listening to Chopin and the Lords Prayer at 3am this morning in bed at home.  

I am grateful that I was awake to say “I love you” as he took his final breaths.

The end came quickly after he lost his ability to swallow any liquid three days ago. His last words to me were “I love you. Thank you” just 24 hours before he passed.

He showed no signs of pain or distress. It was the most peaceful goodbye I could have ever imagined. He was warm and comfortable. 

My DH was the love of my life, my anchor.

We never had a clear diagnosis. I will know the results of his brain autopsy in a few months.

This is a horrible disease. I hope your LO can transition as peacefully as my DH.

Thank you to everyone who read and commented on my posts these past months. It meant a lot to me to be part of this community.

    Metta, I’m so sorry for your profound loss. I wish you peace and comfort as you move through this difficult time. My first hubby passed peacefully with me by his side saying the same words. It helped me through knowing he was warm and comfortable surrounded by love. May his memory fill you with joy and may he rest in peace💜

    So sorry for your loss. Your next phase of this horrible disease will be Stage 8 for you and you can find support here and in the other forum room Supporting Those Who Have Lost Someone. I live to hear my dear wife's voice when, in the depths of this disease, she would find the strength to thank me for caring for her. That is a deep love that, even as the end is rushing toward him, your husband found his final thoughts to thank you. Cherish those words and fight hard to be able to hear them over and over forever.
