Ron. I am so sorry for the loss of your sister. It's always hard to lose a sibling, or any family member, but worse around the holidays. I lost my sister, my only sibling, a few years ago and still grieve and miss her. I'm glad you're near family for support. We're here if you need to talk.

Good morning. We have the reverse of your situation. The last 2 days were cold and icy, overnight the temps started to rise and we should best 50F before strong winds usher in another cold front. I'm hoping to get my drive scraped off later. At the moment we're fogged in.
I need to get my pre-op testing in the next day or two. I have a bunch of tests ordered by my hematologist, PCP and endo. It's interesting that my PCP wants a measles titer despite having had measles. I always thought the conferred lifelong immunity. They're all in the same hospital system, so I may just do it all at once. It's funny how different the protocols for the pre-ops are compared to last time when I had to see a cardiologist; this time they're fine with an EKG and sign-off by a CNP.
I hope all have an easy day.

Morning.
Ron I'm so sorry about your sister. Its always difficult, but it seems worse at this time of year. That temp change will make you have to bundle up for sure.
Burr for many of us. I don't mind snow, but ice I'm not a fan of. I'm just too scared I'm going to fall. Having had as many knee surgeries as I've had I just can't imagine another one. HB did you mom really scrape her sidewalks? I hope she was teasing you. Goodness that's dangerous on so many levels.
Be safe everyone. DH has PT today & he doesn't know it yet, but he's taking me to lunch afterwards!

Good morning.
The sky is clear blue and I have a peek-a-boo view of the mountain tops about 30 miles from me. Temp is 60 degrees now.

Lorita thank you for asking, mom and sisters are all doing ok.
Nephew was going to wait till after the holidays to apply. Though I think maybe his mom said this week hopefully going to fill out an application for the company he hopes to get on with. They are noted for training their people well, we’ll just have to wait and see. I don’t know if his ADHD will be an issue for them or not, we’ll see. he suffers from task, avoidance, big time. Thankfully, when he worked at WM and like when he went to school, he does great with that. But here at the house, it’s bad. I’m gonna tell him if he ever thinks about marrying some girl you need to tell her what issues you have and is she willing to deal with it cause if not, you’re not gonna stay married very long.Take care everyone

Thank all of you for your prayers on the passing of my sister. She was two years older than me and joined a brother two years older than her. Now all that’s left is my older brother and myself.
I will be leaving for Louisiana later this week and hopefully with frequent stops, my pain will not be to bad.Ron

Good afternoon Friends.
Ron. Im so sorry to hear of your sister passing. My younger sister passed away 6 years ago, and it still feels like yesterday.
All of you with ice and snow, please be careful. Boise might be getting snow soon.
It's a quiet day at my house, I'm glad i need a quiet day.
Hugs Zetta

Ron, so sorry to hear of your sister's passing. Please have safe travels both ways.

I took a two hour nap this afternoon. I must still be tired from running around last Friday, three days ago.
Good night.

You know, Iris, I still have a soft spot in my heart for the Rose Parade. I always wanted to be in a marching band in that parade (never happened). I know that may sound weird, but I always loved being in marching band.
HB - I've never been to a Waffle House. I'm very curious about them, and one of these days when we're in Charleston I'm going to go to one.
Beth - I love all of that stuff in the snow globe restaurant. It looks really fun. I'm with Lorita - I bet whatever bra Ruthie has on, it's really uncomfortable.
We had a friend over for dinner tonight. She's a pretty strict vegan, but we were on it! My s.o made a farro risotto with mushrooms, kale, green beans, snap peas, and a sprinkling of corn. It was so good! He roasted the mushrooms first with thyme and some olive oil. We had tea and Biscoff cookies for dessert. Did you know that Biscoffs are vegan? I didn't know that.
Weather-wise, we've moved on from the rain for a couple of days, and the temps are now frigid. It's 34 degrees right now, getting up to 47 tomorrow. Brrr.

Good morning, Ron. I guess technically it's morning for me (on the west coast), but I haven't gone to sleep yet. 🙂

Good morning. Fasting blood draw and EKG today. It's at a hospital with which I am unfamiliar (how is that even possible given my mom?) and a 40-minute drive away which adds to the crankiness. I need to dive into my chart and make sure they do all the other outstanding blood orders I have for PCP, hematology, and the new endo as well.
Gothic G— I never thought about it, but it makes sense that "airplane cookies" are vegan. This would make it relatively easy to have them certified both Kosher and Hallal which they are.
I hope all are safe from weather and hanging in there.

10 degrees this morning! Brrrr! It should get up to 36. Heat wave - ha!
HB, best wishes driving this morning. Too bad you couldn't go to a closer free standing lab or doctor's office to get your labs and EKG done. Measles titer? I'll bet you're good if you had measles. There is a measles outbreak now so he is probably wanted to make sure you're immune if you should be exposed doing hospital and dr. appointments. I had all the childhood diseases: measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox. When starting work for a hospital, I had to get titers and they showed I was immune to all.
GG, your vegan meal sounds outstanding! Your DH is quite a cook! A shout out to the moms who taught their boys (girls too) to cook; my MIL didn't. He's good at other things but I would love to have a hubby who cooks something besides eggs, oatmeal and grilled meats. We moved into our current home a year ago, and we have a gas range. I'd never used one before. Hubby doesn't even know how to turn the burners on with this range. 😫
GG, Lorita, Ruthie was supposedly a 48 DD bra size!
Ron, I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your sister. Be careful driving. It's a long ways and weather can get iffy this time of year.
Lorita, your outside temps were going the wrong direction! 75 would be so nice, 29 not so much.
Eaglemom, hope you, Madison and DH are doing well and not getting any ice or snow.
We have company! My daughter and her 3 boys (from Houston). Yesterday the local son, DIL and their 4 who are still at home came over. 12 of us for dinner. Much chaos with the kids stuck inside due to weather. It was noisy and boisterous here. I am glad they had the chance to spend time together. The littlest one wants to build a snowman but I am thinking there isn't enough, or the right kind, of snow.
Judith, Edward Jones was awfully good to us. We have our main accounts elsewhere but when my mom passed away we inherited her EJ accounts. They grew substantially over a few years. Hopefully your accounts are doing well too. Last year we took out some investment money to buy our new home. We had a lot of capital gains - which meant a high tax burden last year PLUS S.S is charging us more this year for Part B due to our "higher income." So despite a SS cost of living increase, this coming year our SS payments will be LESS. Not pleased with that. Oh well.
Iris, seeing the mountains is a treat! We LOVE going to the Rocky Mountains in the fall. So beautiful.
Mint, hope all goes well with your nephew. You are a blessing to him.
Hugs to all. Have a good day.
Beth

Morning have a couple o f "Must dos" on my list today. Already took care of one.
I prepaid my final Arrangements four years ago. Since then I have lost all my family so didn't really know who would know about my arrangements so talked with the people at the funeral home. I have the.notification card on the refrigerator and a note in my billfold. They suggested telling my doctor about the arrangements and the attorney I will use to make my will. Guess it was good I called.because there are two cemeteries in the town. Got the right one in the paperwork. Never once thought I would be in the position of no NOK.
We all Had a good night's sleep with the exception of Stormy waking me to go out- glad he did. Both have been out and are back in and have had their morning meds.
Ron, where did your sister live? Be very careful on your drive- are you going alone?
Hope all of you have a good day. It is cold.here but sunny with light wind.

Good afternoon—
Still cold and windy here.
Mint— I think the same of my son. He does best in a structured situation with clear expectations and then falls apart at home. He's a terrific human but the worst roommate I've ever lived with. He'll pretty much do anything I ask of him and usually graciously. But. Lights left on, closet doors open, dishes in the sink instead of the dishwasher, his stuff all over. Gah!
I hope your nephew lands the position he wants. Do you know if he takes medication for his ADHD? If he takes a stimulant, he will need to report that proactively because of DOT testing that is done.
Ron— Will you be making the trip alone or will your family travel with you?
Beth— I would have dearly loved to nip into the Quest Labs 2 miles south of here, but the surgeon was specific about using the hospital. The staff were lovely but it was very different. I even got a bracelet. For bloodwork?? My PCP's office, where I'll be going for my pre-op clearance has a blood lab onsite and can do an EKG there. I dug out all of my orders to bring with me; it was 11 different tests. It was 9:30 by the time I got there, and I didn't get home/have any caffeine until 11:30. I still feel discombobulated.
The testing guidelines for measles is meant to test those born after 1957 who presumably got the vaccine. I was born in '57 and recall having measles, but this is an abundance of caution thing.
Lorita— It must be a relief to know you have the "i's" dotted and the "t's" crossed although I hope it's not anytime soon.
Judith— Your Raymond James remark prompted me to take care of mom's RMD yesterday. Nothing like waiting until the last minute. She just got the final distribution from her late sister's estate so I dropped that off at the bank on my way home while she thinks about what she wants to do with it. I didn't think she'd live to see the day. The lawyer really jerked them around; I think he was trying to wait out 2 old ladies (90 and 88).

Off to make a trial run of Yorkshire pudding in a popover pan instead of the roasting pan. Wish me luck.

Good morning.
It's heavily overcast this morning.
Ron, are you driving to Louisiana alone?
