Ron I’m sorry to hear about your sister. Pray you can do your trip OK
HB my nephew does not take any for his ADHD. When he has tried them in the past, it didn’t go well. He lost lots of weight and he had heart palpitations he just doesn’t take any.

Bandfest and Equifest occurred yesterday and today in Pasadena. These are previews of the marching bands and of the equestrian teams for the Tournament of Roses Parade. If interested, you can search for videos. Most are on Instagram, which I don't have.

Lorita, HB, Iris, my son and rest of Missouri family are not able to go. I spoke to a cousin in Arkansas and will pick him up on my way and that will ease my son’s mind that someone will be with me. My sister is a little over a hour south of Shreveport. My brother will met me at a motel in Bossier City Friday night, we will go to her memorial Saturday afternoon, go back to the motel and come back home Sunday. I know the trip will be rough for my neck, but taking care of Lou with her dementia I’ve missed to many funerals, including my other brother and don’t plan on missing anymore. Hopefully stopping often and stretching my legs it want be to hard of a drive.
HB, if I have neck surgery I’m hoping some of my pre-op want be needed with all the workups I’ve already had. Last blood work I had, not being familiar with a new hospital I got turned around and confused and had to get help from hospital patrol to find my car.

Uptown got bought out by Reasors and is now Fresh. It is too big but the meat cutter from Kamps meat market is there so it willbe eqsy to buy meat going forward.

I love popovers! They have to be FRESH because they deflate as soon as they come out of the oven. Yum! with some butter. Or even without butter!

HB - I hadn't thought about 'airplane cookies' that way either, but it really does make sense. I thought I was the only one who likes Biscoffs, but the more I ask/discuss, the more people come out of the woodwork.
About the measles - this is why I got a measles booster last year. I couldn't find the documentation stating that I'd been vaccinated for measles, and I'm also on the cusp, age wise, so I just got the booster.
I'm sorry you had to go through all of that just for blood work. A bracelet for blood work?? Seems like overkill to me.
I hope your Yorkshire puddings turned out well!
Beth - Funny about your gas range. I've never had anything but that. I'm incredibly lucky that my s.o. likes to cook. He's told me any number of times that he finds it 'grounding'. I just find cooking stressful. 😄 But I'm happy to do all the dishes, every time.

I've been mildly productive today. I got to the gym and did a full body workout - I was pretty toasty by the time I got home. My s.o. made quesadillas (no cheese for me) and I made the salsa and guacamole for lunch. Yummm. And it was what I needed after a hard workout. I've spent the last couple of hours working on photos for upcoming posts on the blog.

Ron, I am very sorry for your loss. Be safe driving.
I’ve been helping my Cousin move into her newly built home part of last week and all of this week. She has professional movers but so much “stuff”. She is a widow (62) and is downsizing but I think she’s overestimated her space compared to the amount of “stuff” so she’s struggling with lots of emotions. I understand because I lost my late husband a year after we moved in our newly built “forever” home. So we’re grieving, laughing, crying, grateful, praying and working together. She also helps with our Aunt with dementia so we are very close.

Mint— Maybe the similarities between "our boys" is a reflection of male ADHD. It can look different in girls and women. It's funny— mom, my niece and DS all have it, but it looks different. Mom and DS are both inattentive. DS was hyperactive (which is to say impulsive) when younger while mom still is. They are both very creative out-of-the-box thinkers. Niece is more straight up inattentive; she presents as super capable but is like the graceful swan paddling furiously beneath the water.
Iris— DH, a former band kid, would love Bandfest. He used to really enjoy the local band competitions when DS was in band.
Ronald— Safe travels this weekend. IME with mom who has had 2 minor surgeries and 2 more extensive ones, sometimes the surgeons want more or different or more recent. And more than once they've said "since you have to come in for the fill-in-the-blank, we may as well get a new <fill-in-the-blank>". I remember when she had her second knee done, the surgeon wanted all tests done with in 30 days. Her surgery was cancelled, and we had to go downtown to re-do all the pre-op stuff. But you might get lucky. When they replaced her heart valve, the cardiologist was accepted a lot of her previous testing.Goodlife— A popover pan is a lot like a muffin tin but the cups are deeper and more tapered. They typically have a rack holding the cups together for better air circulation.
Gothic G— I would guess than Biscoff cookies are universally enjoyed even if they're not anybody's absolute favorite cookie.
A 48DD would be massive given that cup sizes increase with band size. The cup of a 36D would be the same size as a 38C— Sister Sizes, if you will.______________________________________________________________
The Yorkshire Pudding dry run was ghastly and it wasn't all that quicker. I was hoping to reduce baking time to about 30 minutes so it would be ready when the roast had finished resting.I hope all have a pleasant evening and I'll see you in #214.

Happy New Lorita. Still working on the farm with the animals (sheep,goats,chickens,duck,gennias,kids,dogs,and cats. Alot if work to get the farm going. With moving and selling the old house. Been sick with a viral cold since Christmas eve. Could be the different weather here on the farm. We gave a creek and a pond for ducks. Hope everyone has a safe new year.

Good to hear from you, Shirley. Lots of work to do on a farm but worth it. Hope you get the house sold soon..The time is nearing for me to do the same with our farm. I hate the idea but it has to be done. My family has been here on this farm since 1936 so it is truly home. SeIIing will.be hard.
Just heard 3100 people have died from the flu and there has been 7.5 million cases. The U.S. is about to lose its rating of eradicating measles. Looks like we are going .backwards.
Just fed the.birds and Rusty and all the girls are out front waiting for their feed. Life goes on.

Hi Mint, hope you are well and your weather is good.
This year has been pretty rough for me with repairs and things going wrong. My health has been good but some health issues with cats, Pyrenees and Billy, problems with appliances and car. This next year will be better. I know what happened! I didn't have my black eyed peas last Jan. 1. This year I have them and will eat a double helping. Maybe I can get one down each cat and dog. Also will be careful about what I do tomorrow - you know whatever you do tomorrow, you will do all year. Not really complaining, all in all 2025 was pretty good.

Good afternoon. I posted too late to say good morning, although I was up early enough.
The sky is overcast but the weather is warm, no precipitation at this moment.
Is it the end of the year already? It seems too soon!
Times Square has been celebrating New Year's Eve since 1904. My brother, two cousins and I were among the throngs of celebrants one NYE, we were cold and 8 blocks away from the Ball, but we had a good time. Everyone was laughing and telling jokes. That was in 1993.
I'll be home tonight, watching the celebrants on TV with my noisemaker and sparkling cider.
I've been on this board since late December, 2008. I'm glad the Front Porchers are still rocking!

I hope everyone has a happy New Years Eve however you decide to spend it. And I like the way HB phrased it: I hope we all have a gentler 2026.
Our plans for tonight and tomorrow: I'm going to make cinnamon rolls for tomorrow morning. I'll make a yeast dough, get it all prepped, and then bake it tomorrow. Tonight we're going to have a dance party in the atrium - just me and my s.o., but we'll dress up the atrium, and it'll be great.

Iris, 2008 is when I started this thread-.about the time Charles was diagnosed. Time has really flown, hasn't it? I won't be staying awake unless I can't sleep.
I was wondering if you had ever gone to the place where they make the floats for the parade. That would interesting to see.

I made pizza today for ds and me. It's not that hard, but I always feel very proud of myself when I make pizza. Tomorrow it's lasagna. Have to do all the fancy cooking now because I'm back to work next week.
I hope everyone is able to do the things tomorrow that will set the stage for an excellent year in 2026!
