Need advice for choosing a blanket
We have been married for 55 years and always slept in a king-size bed with king-size quilts. Within the last month I have thrown out a quilt and have a second one at the cleaner (not cheap). My DW is starting to become incontinent. I intend to remain sleeping with my DW in a king-size bed as long as it is practical. We live in the Northeast; so it is cold and blankets are needed. Does anyone have recommendations for my situation - especially appropriate blankets?

I live in Minnesota. We need blankets here too. My DH is incontinent. Just make sure that the blankets or bedspread are machine washable and that you have at least two of them so that when one gets wet you have a dry one to put on the bed. King size bedding can be challenging to wash in a home washing machine. You might want to use two smaller blankets. one for your side and one for hers.
For what it is worth the blanked rarely gets wet but it happens. I use a pad on the bed to soak up any urine because most of it ends up under my DH.
Read the labels and look for something that is machine washable.

DH and I share a king-sized bed. We do not share blanket preferences. We've always made the bed up with 2 extra-long twin blankets. Right now, that's 2 different weight down comforters in matching duvets.
In your shoes, I might consider doing the same. A twin blanket/duvet is generally washable in a standard washer at home. A good quality fleece like those from Berkshire should hold up to repeated washes if you dry on low. Costco and Home Goods (Marshall's, TJMaxx) have excellent prices on these.
Adding a washable pad on her side might help cut down laundry. Better quality incontinence garments would likely help as well. Check out Northshore or Parentgiving.

Thank you. The two-blanket approach should make it a lot easier.

We also use 2 twin washable comforters on our king size bed and NO top sheet. He used to toss and turn all night, thrashing around, pulling the covers off of me and getting tangled in the top sheet. We got rid of the top sheet and went to 2 twin comforters and it has helped tremendously.

Thank you ALL! Excellent! DW always took care of the bedding purchase, and so I got set in our ways. I just ordered six-sided protectors. We had a close call recently with the 5-sided. Thanks!
