Does anyone have an inhome camera
Wondering if anyone has suggestions for an inhome camera to help keep an eye on my spouse while I am at work. We aren't to the stage YET where he need 24 hour care but I worry what is going on in the house when I am not home. I would prefer one that doesn't need a subscription, but one that I can see/hear what is going on during the day. Thanks.

Hi: I also work full-time and I bought a few Blink cameras to put around the house. They weren't very expensive and they work great (clear video and sound). Sometimes I feel like a stalker when I check-in on him (he does not know there are cameras around), but it gives me peace of mind. I also bought outdoor cameras so I can watch him in the yard. It's been a brutal winter so I haven't installed them yet, but he's not going outside anyway.

I have used AlfredCamera. They have a free version which is what I used. You can use an old cellphone as a monitor. It works quite well. You can look it up online.

I use WYZE cameras and I’m pleased with them. We live where it frequently hovers below zero and the outside cameras are always reliable.

Hi @Jobrien12
I have not used a camera so not in a position to recommend one. I do have a different perspective though and hope you will not take offense.
I recommend asking those who use/have used cameras to monitor LOs and when they decided that it was time for more in-person supervision. Each of us have developed good instincts, from the time we noticed something was ‘off’ up to time to hide car keys, hide dangerous tools and utensils, install child proof locks, etc. Your instincts will help you know when the camera is no longer sufficient peace of mind, and you need in-person supervision for DH.
In the meantime, if you haven’t done so already, seek advice and help from an Elder Care Law Attorney to get your legal paperwork in order (powers of attorney, HIPPA forms, Healthcare surrogate, trusts/wills, etc.). Do this while DH is still able to sign papers. I met with attorney by myself first to go over our situation and then took DH with me to sign papers. The attorney may also know of resources in your area that you might want to look into if you want to/need to continue working. There might be adult day care programs or the like.
You may also want to look into FMLA at work to see how that can work to your benefit if you need to take some time off to get things in order. Just knowing how it will work and how long you can take off may give you some peace of mind going forward.

I appreciate your input. I have already completed all necessary legal paperwork and have that in order. I agree it was important to get done prior the decline becoming to much. I also do have connected with a care agency and obtained information. We currently have a caregiver that comes twice a week and takes my DH out and about to get him out of the house and watch over him. At this point he does not leave the house at all on his own, he also does not drive. I also appreciate your comments on FMLA, I have checked into what is available when the time comes. We are taking things one step at a time, understanding that things could change any day. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I have 2 Ring camera's set up that was so easy to do!! I have the app downloaded on my phone so I can just open it and check on my DH while I'm at work each day. It has given some great peace of mind.

We have RING cameras as well. Good option.

I HAd a nest camera at my mother’s MC. I was happy to keep tabs on my mom without having to call the facility. I could be on the phone with her when she took her meds. That worked for us for about 6 months. She did however have a tendency to fiddle around with the cords that were plugged into the wall, but we were able to just plug them back in when we were there.

Been using the ring cameras and security system for 6 or 7 years now and find it simple and affordable.

I just put a camera in my wife's MC the brand is Kasa I don't remember the model, but I can adjust the direction it points from my phone or set it to follow motion. I did get a subscription, but it was cheap the camera was about $40 and the subscription is about $3 a month. I was not familiar with the brand but so far it is working great.

My cameras are not necessarily for observing my husband, but rather for watching those who are watching him. He cannot be left alone and I still work so PCA’s care for him when I can’t work from home. I like knowing what’s going on when I can’t be there.
