A Spark Of Joy … follow up
I did it I now have my power boat licence. Thank you all so much for your support and wonderful words of encouragement.
It felt so odd just for a short time thinking about me. I felt selfish, it felt wrong I had to keep pulling myself back to the job in hand (ha ha so important driving a boat literally around in circles on the water, up on the plane then 6 knots and no wash etc etc) but for a very short time it was important especially to the instructor, it was his livelihood. My DH also had a new experience he was with his carer for the first time for 2 1/2 hours. We met Craig the week before and he was just great casual, young about 45, easy going, talked male talk football, cricket, fishing. After three failed attempts at carers I was on guard but Craig was good, kind and caring without smothering, so hopefully he will be around for a while. The stress levels I went through to do this were enormous but it was worth it. As @howhale and so many others have said fight and fight hard don’t give up. We are all they have, they are all we have.

Dear @Biggles It is uplifting stories like this that I (we) crave these days! So thank you from the bottom of my heart!
My story today = DH initiated and played his own version of solitaire yesterday! He refused to play with me for several days - I think he was intimidated. So imagine my surprise and big smile when I looked up from doing the dishes and he was engaged in his own card game. That independent man I married 52 years ago (on Feb 16th) is still there, even if only fleetingly.
Hugs to you, your DH and Craig! 💝💝💝

I was so excited to read this! Wish I was there to give you a big hug of congratulations. Quite the woman you are for pursuing this and accomplishing your goal. You did it! And you deserve it. I hope Craig continues to be available so you can get more time doing things that you enjoy. My dream is to go on a trail ride with my horse again one day. You give me hope.

Thank you @trottingalong I feel really humble with all the comments. I’m not sure what it does for me, it doesn’t change things, I still cry, I still hold my DH and snuggle close and dance in the kitchen, I still think for all of us, it’s so unfair the straw we have drawn, but I smile at my achievement small as it is. Go for the horse riding, set the goal and plod through the challenges. Work on it at, least you have a goal.
