Safety app that performs a daily check-in

I came across a free smartphone app called Snug Safety that helps people who live alone do a quick daily check-in to confirm they’re okay, and if they miss their check-in it notifies chosen emergency contacts so someone can check on them.

[P.S. on Feb. 19… This app is a good option for caregivers. If something happens to one of us our PWD may not know what to do, so it's a good "safety net" for us if we don't have anyone else checking in on us regularly.]

If person can remember to log-in daily I doubt they are far down the dementia road , and if they can do this - they could call for help if needed. I know a PWD who received a live daily call from a monitoring service device around her neck -the voice with no person there -ended up getting her upset -nothing is a substitute for a human supervising in person.

That looks like an awesome app in a situation like mine where I am not-quite-caregiver to my elderly mom who doesn't have dementia. I normally call daily, but sometimes I get busy with my own stuff and it might be later in the day.

    Thanks for sharing.

Yes, good point. It would certainly not be a good option for a PWD. Instead, it's a good check in for the caregivers, if they have no other option. I should have said that in my original post so I edited it just now to clarify. Thank you.

I actually read about the app on another dementia site. The person who posted about it did so in response to the news about Gene Hackman last year. Had Hackman's wife had the app… or anyone at all checking on them daily… the situation would have been completely different. It was such a sad story.
