My first post.

I hope I'm doing this correctly, I'm not very tech savvy. We live in Washington state. My DH was diagnosed with MCI a year ago. But before that, we went and did a research study on alzheimers. He tested positive for the p-tau protein but chose not to participate in the study. His mother died from alzheimers and we've suspected that he had it for a few years. But as you've all mentioned in your post, the Dr's have to do things their way and at their speed! We know that he has it! I feel like he's in stage 4. I've been reading your post for awhile and I can see a lot of similarities. I'm about half way through the book, "The 36 Hour Day", it's a little disturbing. I've been searching for a affordable Eldar Law Attorney, so far I've been unsuccessful but will continue to pursue it as I know how important it is to get that done asap!

I do have a question…Does anyone know if dizziness is a symptom of alzheimers? For a year + he's had on and off bouts of major dizziness. He refuses going to Dr's or taking medications. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I'm sure I'll have more questions as this horrible disease progresses. Thank you ahead of time. I hope you have a good evening.

Welcome @mangomartini Glad you’ve been following along and found this site helpful. You are much farther along than I was when i literally stumbled on this site. And you did a terrific job posting your first time. 👏

Not sure about dizziness, but balance can be an issue. I will attach a behavioral assessment tool form Tam Cummings’ website. Balance issues begin in stage 3. My DH’s gait has changed to small shuffling steps and if he turns abruptly starts to loose balance.

See if saying to your DH that the doctor’s appointment is required by his insurance might get him to agree. I’ve learned not to tell my DH about any upcoming events because he gets quite anxious and wants to get ready and go right then and there. I wait until it is time for him to get dressed and that I am ready beforehand.

Attorney’s are expensive, but in my case worth the money. Our first consult plus the DPOAs and healthcare surrogate papers was $1500 - I live in FL. Hope that or similar amount is doable for you.

Keep us posted on how you are doing. Best wishes.

I am very sorry you are walking this road with all of us here. As to your initial question, my DH has experienced dizziness of an “unknown cause” likely related to his ALZ diagnosis though. Truth is as you will learn here “if you’ve seen one person with Alzheimers, you’ve seen one person with Alzheimers.”. Those of us here see similarities in our loved ones but nothing is predictable nor can you be certain about the “cause” of behaviors or symptoms displayed at any given time. Sometimes what you see may be a medically unrelated cause but often times it can be traced back to this cruel disease.

Just come and ask and someone here will always reach out and try to help you find an answer or listen to you vent your emotions or just remind you that we honestly do care.
