A Lakota Prayer - after the loss of a loved one

I hope this lovely prayer shows up. Not sure why links and images are so tough to post here so I came back and typed it out to be more visible. This prayer struck me tonight as a beautiful way to redirect my own thoughts when facing and anticipating the loss of a love. My DH is still here, but not here, as AD steals him away slowly but surely. Just like I help him redirect his thoughts these days, I'm realizing I need to learn to refocus mine, too, to survive his dementia. This beautiful Lakota indigenous prayer/poem helped this evening. May it especially bring those of you whose LO's have recently passed away, a bit of peace.

I give you this, one thought to keep:

I am with you still, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain,

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's rush,

I am the swift uplifting rush...

of quiet birds in circled flight,

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not think of me as gone -

I am with you still, in each dawn.
